YGIS Community Preventive Health Initiative Launches with Its First Workshop

On August 8, 2026, YGIS launched the first event of its Community Preventive Health Initiative — a community workshop on Family First Aid and CPR.

The workshop was led by 16-year-old Isabella with Stephen Jiang assisting with instruction and hands-on demonstrations. More than 20 community members participated, including 9 youth participants. People of different ages came together to learn practical first aid knowledge and skills, making this workshop a meaningful cross-generational community health education experience.

As a youth instructor certified by the Lifesaving Society as a FirstAid + CPR C Instructor/Examiner, Isabella led the main instructional content of the workshop. From recognizing emergencies and activating the emergency response system to CPR, AED use, and common first aid situations at home, she transformed the professional training and practical experience she has received into knowledge that is accessible and relevant to everyday families and communities.

Stephen actively supported the workshop through instruction, demonstrations, and participant interaction, working alongside Isabella to help participants better understand and practice essential first aid skills. Their teamwork also made this event a meaningful example of young people taking an active role in organizing and serving their community.

The workshop was not only about “knowing what to do.” More importantly, it aimed to help every participant develop an important mindset:

First aid skills should not belong only to healthcare professionals. They should be practical skills that every family and every community can learn and use.

This is also the purpose behind YGIS’s Community Preventive Health Initiative — to use the energy and knowledge of young people to bring health education, safety awareness, and practical skills into the community, helping more people develop the ability to prevent risks and respond effectively when emergencies occur.

For Isabella, this workshop was also much more than simply sharing knowledge.

Standing in front of the community, she took on the role of an Instructor and Community Educator. She was responsible for organizing the material, explaining professional knowledge, answering questions, and, most importantly, making sure that participants could actually understand and apply what they learned.

From initially being cautious about public speaking to taking responsibility for delivering a community first aid workshop, she is gradually learning that leadership is not simply about standing in front of an audience. It means being willing to take responsibility, serve others, and turn the knowledge and skills one possesses into meaningful action for the community.

The participation of 9 youth attendees also highlighted an important message: health and safety education is not only an adult responsibility. Helping young people learn how to protect themselves, help others, and gradually become future contributors to community health and safety is equally important.

We sincerely thank every community member who participated in this workshop, YouGood Education for the active support and assistance, and everyone who has encouraged and supported this initiative.

This is only the beginning of the YGIS Community Preventive Health Initiative.

In the future, we will continue exploring topics including Aquatic Safety & Drowning Prevention, Winter Sports & Ski Safety, and Fall Prevention for Seniors, bringing preventive health education and practical safety knowledge into our community.

Through one small action at a time, we hope to help more people gain the ability to protect themselves and help others — while empowering young people to turn their passion and knowledge into a meaningful force for their community.

Protect lives through learning. Create changes through action.
