YGIS Volunteer Coordinator Stephen Jiang recently brought members of his youth team, Bridge Zhou, Hasshir Mehdi, Emily Cui, Alvis Zhang, Aurick Zhang, Katelyn Ma, and Vincent Ma, to volunteer at a community event hosted by MLA Nathan Ip.
The young volunteers helped with activities throughout the event, assisted community members, and worked together to support the event organizers. It was also an opportunity for them to meet local residents and gain hands-on experience in community service.
For Stephen, organizing youth volunteers is about giving young people opportunities to take responsibility and become more involved in their community. By participating directly, the team practiced communication, teamwork, and leadership while seeing how a local community event comes together.
YGIS encourages youth to contribute their time and skills to their communities. Through experiences like this, Stephen and his team are building their own leadership experience while making a positive contribution to the people around them.
