8 Days in the Rocky Mountains: Leadership, Teamwork, and Resilience

For eight days, YGIS youth leader Stephen Jiang, third from the left in the first photo, joined his team leaders for an outdoor survival training experience in the Rocky Mountains, stepping away from everyday comforts and learning to adapt to the challenges of the wilderness.

The experience required teamwork, responsibility, and persistence. From setting up camp and preparing meals to navigating the outdoors and handling unexpected challenges, each day gave Stephen opportunities to learn through experience and contribute to his team.

Eight days in the wilderness also meant learning to stay calm when conditions became difficult, support others, and take responsibility for the group.

At Youth Global Impact Society (YGIS), we believe leadership develops through action and service. Experiences like this help young people become more independent, work effectively with others, and learn what it means to be someone a team can rely on.

We are proud to see Stephen take on this challenge and bring what he learned back to his community.
